Manage owners and authors

If you’ve worked with others to create your original work or were hired to create the work you can add co-owners and authors to each file you upload to Dacr.

 

Add owners to your copyright

To add or edit the owners of your copyright:

Dacr.com

  1. Right click on a file in your file list → File Settings.
  2. Click Manage in the Ownership section.
  3. Invite anyone to be a co-owner of your copyright by entering their email address or their name if they’re already on Dacr.

  1. Tap the More menu to the right of a file in your file list → File Settings.
  2. Tap Manage in the Ownership section.
  3. Invite anyone to be a co-owner of your copyright by entering their email address or their name if they’re already on Dacr.

 

Ownership permissions and removing an owner

Each copyright has a controlling owner and co-owners. 

  • Controlling Owner: The controlling owners can manage permissions of other co-owners and receives profits from royalties and licenses. The controlling owner is also responsible for maintaining Dacr copyright protection costs. 
  • Co-owner: Listed as an owner on the copyright.

To edit the owner permissions of your copyright:

  1. Right click on a file in your file list → File Settings.
  2. Click X Owners link in the Ownership section.
  3. Click on the More icon to the right of any name. You can remove them as a co-owner or ask them to be the controlling owner.

Add authors to your copyright

Under United States copyright law, the creator of the original work is its author. The author is also the owner of copyright unless there is a written agreement by which the author assigns the copyright to another person or entity, such as a publisher.1

Example: In cases of works made for hire, the employer or commissioning party is considered to be the author.

To add or edit the authors of your copyright:

  3. Invite anyone to be an author of your copyright by entering their email address or their name if they’re already on Dacr.

Remove an author

To remove an author of your copyright:
